A U.S. manufacturing client that had never sold its product overseas wanted to grow sales, but only wanted sales growth that would provide an immediate return on its investment. CDS Worldwide quickly determined its clients biggest challenge would be its limited financial, structural and human resources. Although large, the client was growing quickly and simply did not have unlimited resources it could deploy for overseas expansion. Taking into account that the client's past success had been driven by a small unique product range sold on a system basis, local distribution expertise would be a requirement. In order to help conserve our client's limited resources - and to profitably optimize its growth potential - our solution was to:
- Locate overseas markets where there was opportunity to obtain sales with the highest possible return.
- Establish a performance based compensation program costing the client nothing unless profitable results were achieved.
The impact of CDS Worldwide's marketing strategy on the client's business was tremendous. The client achieved almost immediate profitable sales growth from a small, but select number of strategically targeted overseas markets. Within less than 2 years, our client's per capita market share in at least two overseas markets actually exceeded the client's U.S. per capita market share.
